Networking versus AccessRelations

I personally hate Networking. To be approached by impertinent wannabe communication experts promoting themselves does not make my day.

Well I might use a different start:

Networking as exhibited by a growing number of avocational business card collectors and self-proclaimed networker is producing undesirable effects while reaching its natural limits.

Networkers seem to believe that the more network members they have, the more important and valuable their network is. What else should be the reason for these connectors to aggressively and randomly add people to their networks? 40.000 connections are -if taken seriously- not virtual assets but real social obligations.

If you would devote your full working time (8 hours a day / 22 days a month) to such a network, the average time for an individual member would be less than 16 seconds per month or 3 minutes per year.

In order to avoid human spam and undesirable mass mails a new understanding of professional networking seems necessary.

Access Relations delivers like Public, Customer and Investor Relations an integrated and professional approach to access, acquire and develop effective networks.

I am more than happy to discuss my opinion with you. Please share your views.

Thank you.

Hansi

PS: Have you ever been to a so-called “networking event” organized by local members of platforms like xing.com ? How did you like it?
